Kimberly Elise is a well known American film and television actress.
She was born Kimberly Elise Trammel in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April
17th, 1967. She is best known for her work in the movies "Diary of a
Mad Black Woman" and the 2004 remake of "The Manchurian Candidate."
Growing up, her mother worked as an elementary school teacher and her
father owned an executive search firm. Kimberly studied film and
acting at the University of Minnesota. She helped pay her tuition by
starring in television commercials.
In 1996 she landed her first film role, playing against Queen Latifah
in "Set It Off." This led to a role opposite Oprah Winfrey in the film
"Beloved." She has since appeared in other films, such as "Diary of a
Mad Black Woman" and "The Manchurian Candidate."
She has made several guest appearances on the television show
"Girlfriends" and had a starring role in the crime drama "Close To
Home" from 2005 to 2007. Her character Maureen Scofield was killed off
in the final episode of the 2007 season.
Kimberly has won many accolades for her various film and television
roles. She won a Black Reel award for her work portraying a victim of
abuse in "Women Thou Art Loosed." She has also won an NAACP Image
award and a CableACE Award for her work on "The Ditchdigger's
Daughters."
She was married to Maurice Oldham for sixteen years. They divorced in
2005. The couple has two children together.
